I was only a camper at Crossroads for two summers but I had the fortune of being on staff for several years afterwards. I started with the LIT program in 1997, got to be part of the first year of the Bridge program in 1999 (at that time we called it 8-4-6) and then was able to enjoy being on the Summer Team for four years starting in 2000. I actually remember being part of the prep and planning for the 20th anniversary!

During my years at camp, I was given the opportunity to cabin lead, work in the kitchen, lead chapels and run a lot of the different programs, including running the waterfront and serving as one of Camp’s program directors. Those leadership opportunities played a huge role in shaping me early in my adult years and in the ministry God was calling me to. Those experiences challenged me, allowed me to learn from a huge number of other leaders, young and old, and helped set the direction for my life. Camp was also where I first experienced God speak to me in a direct way, and that’s something I will never forget.

Those experiences challenged me, allowed me to learn from a huge number of other leaders, young and old, and helped set the direction for my life.

For me, remembering my experiences at Camp Crossroads brings back some amazing memories. There are lessons I learned there and people I met whose impact are still felt in my life today. I’m grateful for the chance to have been part of the work and ministry that God has been doing through so many incredible people over the past 40 years!
